3RD PLACE FOR CHAMPION AUDI AT 2001 PETIT LE MANS
6 Oct 2001, Braselton, GA - After a fraught 1000 miles
of racing at Road Atlanta, the Champion Racing Audi R8 of Johnny Herbert and
Andy Wallace came home in third place overall, third in LMP-900, the team's
fourth podium finish of the season. The Champion Audi led the race in the early
stages, but a bizarre broken wheel and later a leaking brake caliper that required
changing cost precious green-flag laps, and the Florida-based team was forced
to settle for the third podium spot.

Finish of Saturday's 1,000-mile American Le Mans Series Petit Le Mans sports
car race at 2.54-mile Road Atlanta with starting position in parentheses, drivers,
type car, laps completed, winning time and margin of victory:

1. (2) Emanuele Pirro, Frank Biela; Audi R8; 394, 9:15:57.547, 3 laps.

2. (4) Stefan Johansson, Patrick Lemarie; Audi R8, 391.

3. (5) Andy Wallace, Johnny Herbert; Audi R8, 388.
