5 Sep - Johnny Herbert’s ADT Champion Audi set the second fastest time in warm-up trials for Laguna Seca’s American Le Mans Series race today (FRI) but the Briton was far from happy.

 

Herbert stopped the clock at 1min 17.633secs, an average speed of 103.781mph around the undulating 2.238-mile Californian track – over a second slower than Joest Audi rival Frank Biela.

 

“The Audi was not great in terms of the handling,” confirmed Johnny.  “Both JJ [Lehto] and I experienced massive understeer which we need to overcome before qualifying and the race over the next two days.”

 

Qualifying is staged tomorrow (SAT) with the 165-minute race on Sunday.
