ADT,
the world’s leading provider of electronic security solutions, and
Team ADT Champion Racing, a leading contender for the upcoming Le
Mans 24 hour race in France, have teamed up to overcome a unique
challenge at Le Mans this year.
Unlike previous years, in 2005 the Le Mans testing weekend (5 June)
and race weekend (18/19 June) are just 13 days apart. Historically,
all the race teams have packed up and left the venue after testing
and returned several weeks later for the race, however because of
the short gap between test and race they are remaining on site this
year, which poses a new security challenge for the teams.
In
response to growing concerns over the security of Team ADT Champion
Racing’s equipment, components and spares - worth several million
dollars - and to ensure maximum protection for the team in the lead
up to the race weekend, ADT is providing electronic surveillance for
the team. This is the first time ever in the 73 year history of Le
Mans that a race team is being provided with electronic surveillance
of this nature.
The
surveillance operation is being carried out via a new state of the
art mobile closed circuit television (CCTV) vehicle that is
positioned in Team ADT Champion Racing’s pit paddock area. This
vehicle has been fitted out with the latest digital CCTV technology,
to provide continuous 24 hour monitoring for the team in the lead up
to the race. This includes a live feed of vision from strategically
positioned cameras into Team ADT Champion Racing’s management
centre.
Don
Skuta, Director of Business Development for the Champion Group,
said: “This
initiative not only creates a strong link between ADT’s capabilities
and the operations of Team ADT Champion Racing, but it gives us full
confidence that our valuable racing equipment is being protected at
all times.
We are delighted to be making history with ADT in the lead up to
this historic event, and we also hope to make further history by
winning the race.”
Alex
McNutt, Managing Director of ADT Europe, said: “ADT is proud to be
supporting Team ADT Champion Racing and this unique partnership
takes our relationship to a new level. The surveillance operation in
Le Mans is a fantastic example of how ADT’s cutting edge CCTV
technology can be deployed in any environment to provide tailored
solutions to our customers’ needs.
“ADT
is pleased to be working with Team ADT Champion Racing in preparing
for the race weekend and we look forward to seeing both cars on the
podium come Sunday afternoon” Mr McNutt added.
