16 May - Mosport Park - Champion Racing is
competing
in two different countries this weekend. While the ADT/Champion ALMS
Audi R8
team is busy at Sears Point in California, Champion's Speed World
Challenge
GT Audi S4 team is competing at the Victoria Day races at Canada's
Mosport Park.
Very different weather situations as well...in California the R8 team
has warm
and sunny conditions, while in Canada - where springtime has not yet
taken full
hold - the weather has been cold and rainy, much as it was at last
year's World
Challenge meeting at Mosport. The S4 crew calls this "Quattro
weather"...
Wednesday was arrival and setup
day, and Thursday was a full
day of testing for the World Challenge teams. Both Michael Galati and
Derek
Bell saw track time on Thursday. Two practice sessions are set for
Friday, with
Qualifying on Saturday and the Speed World Challenge GT feature race on
Sunday.
At Sebring, Speed GT had six different
manufacturers in the
top six finishing positions. Despite that fact, the Speed GT Audi S4
Competition
gained 75 lbs and lost 1.3psig of turbo boost, and the Acura NSX SC
gained 150
lbs. Will the adjustments be enough to slow down Michael Galati (Audi)
and Peter
Cunningham (Acura), who have dominated Speed GT the last two seasons?
We'll
find out this weekend.
It'll be a busy road trip for the S4 team, as they
head straight
from Mosport to Lime Rock Park, for the third round of the season. This
is the
traditional Memorial Day holiday weekend at Lime Rock. Check back here
over
the next two weeks, as we bring you all the GT action from Mosport and
Lime
Rock |
